March 11 Music of R.E.M. at Carnegie Hall

THE MUSIC OF R.E.M. WILL BE HONORED BY 21 ARTISTS AT CARNEGIE HALL on MARCH 11, 2009

Bountiful Program featuring 21 Unique Artists Interpreting R.E.M.'s spectacular repertoire of songs. Honoring Indi-rock will be
performed by artists as diverse as Patti Smith, Guster, Glen Hansard, Dar Williams among others. Tickets on sale today.

Feb. 25, 2009 New York, NY. The 5th concert in a series to raise important funds for music education programs for underprivileged
youth. 100% of the net proceeds will be given to three outstanding non-profits which service this cause including: The American
Symphony Orchestra, Church Street School of Music and Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. The previous sold-out performances have
honored the music of great singer/songwriters including Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Elton John. R. E.M., the
legendary alternative rock group from Athens, Georgia led the underground American music movement in the 1980's with a constant
stream of hit records through today.

The unprecedented line-up includes a variety of talent connected to R.E.M. including the rock legend Patti Smith or Tommy James and
the Shondells. There are a number of fellow indi stars whom where touring and mutually influential including: Bob Mould of Husker
Du, Throwing Muses with Kristin Hersh, Vic Chestnutt, Marshall Crenshaw, The Feelies, and The DB's. The show includes many current
indi favs whom call R.E.M. a big influence in their style including: Guster, The Apples in Stereo, Ingrid Michaelson, Keren Ann,
Kimya Dawson, Rhett Miller, Rachel Yamagata, Fink or Jolie Holland. Rounding out the bill is the Academy Award winning singer,
Glenn Hansard of the Swell Season and the Frames, Darius Rucker of Hootie and Blowfish, Dar Williams, and serving as the house band
for the night is Calexico. There are still a few surprises still to be announced on the line.

The VIP tickets include best seats in the house plus an after-party hosted by City Winery and with food inspired by and designed by
Mario Batali (Michael Stipe's close friend). Join the artist's and their friends in New York's first full winery and amazing new
event space.
