Third
by Wendy Wasserstein
A Theatrical Mirror of Our Time
Wasserstein’s last work, “Third” is among her wittiest, wisest and perhaps most personal plays. Set at an exclusive New England liberal arts college, the central character, Laurie Jameson, could be considered one in the line of Wasserstein’s “uncommon women” of middle age. An ultra-liberal academic, she is forced to deal with a provocative political environment, her personal relationships and their profound realities, and mostly Third, a wrestler who is prep school educated and a student in her Masterpieces of Western Literature course. He turns her world upside down by challenging her feminism, ethics and morality.

Host: TBD
Tickets: $25
No single figure in the history of American song was as important as Irving Berlin. He defined the sound of American Popular Music for over fifty years. His catalog of over 1500 songs generated more standards and #1 hits than any other songwriters. Berlin songs have stood the test of time. They are still being played nearly 100 years after their completion (“Alexander’s Ragtime Band.”) They have endured - Always!

Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 3:00pm
Cast: Eric Michael Gillett, Trisha Rapier, Chuck Cooper, Liz Larsen

Frank Loesser was truly a remarkable fella. Despite coming from a family of music educators, he was entirely self-taught as a pianist. He spent nearly 20 years composing in Hollywood, but his work on Broadway stands out as his monumental achievement. He had five shows produced on Broadway and four of them were huge hits. Not even Richard Rogers had a better batting average.

The untold story of the Princess and the Pea
If you thought you knew the story of "The Princess and The Pea," you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that Lady Larken's love for Sir Harry provided a rather compelling reason that she reach the bridal altar post haste? Or that, in fact, it wasn't the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.

an organization that promotes American leadership to end the Arab-Israeli conflict peacefully and diplomatically. The audience

An Innovative Glimpse on Jewish religious filmmaking in Israel
SRUGIM
Israel 2008, Fiction, 25 min X 15 episodes
Director: Laizy Shapiro
The young and new creation - Srugim, dealing with religious singles living in Jerusalem, managed to enter Israeli prime time TV and
be came the most talked about series of the year.
Israeli cinema has revolutionized over the past years in regards to cultural and ethnic others. This is partly a result of Ma'ale -
a religious Jewish film school and the Gesher Multi-Cultural Film Fund who supports multi cultural filmmakers from different social
and ethnic backgrounds.
As the advisor to the Gesher foundation and as the founder of the Ma'ale distribution department, Hedva will speak on the
challenges, the difficulties and the successes of the religious cinema in the international world.
The discussion will include sagments from acclaimed Israeli documentary:
Yoel, Israel and Pashkevils, an intimate look on a closed society of the Ultra Orthodox in Mea-Shearim (as a contradiction to the
cinematic approach in SRUGIM).
The New Israeli Jewish Identity
A Green Chariot

Director: Gilad Goldschmidt
Twenty two year-old Sasha's greatest wish is to become an Israeli. He has
become religious, changed his name to Yair and speaks only in Hebrew - even when he is addressed in Russian. He has completely cut
himself off from his Russian past, including his father and his Russian friends.
Just before his marriage to his native Israeli girlfriend, Yair discover that his mother was not Jewish.
The revelation forces him to confront his religious beliefs and journey back to the Russian identity he has fought to suppress.
Winner of Silver Remi Award, Huston Int' Film Festival 2006
Winner of Special Jury Prize, Religion Today Film Festival Italy 2006
In Israel today there are more than 300,000 Israeli citizens, mainly immigrants from former Soviet Union, who are not considered to
be Jews by the Jewish Law. The film is not only raising the question of conversion n Israel, but is mainly about the relations
between Israelis and Immigrants, secular and religious and touches the question of identity.
Hedva Goldschmidt, who is the wife of the filmmaker and worked many years in the absorption of immigrants in Israel, bring the
personal stories behind the scenes.
